Can cardiomyopathy be diagnosed with an echocardiogram?
The best answer is partly. A cardiomyopathy is a weakness in the heart muscle causing the heart not to pump normally. This can be seen on an ECG. However, you can’t tell whether the weakness in the heart muscle is due to damage from heart disease or a weakness in the muscle. The other way to diagnose a cardiomyopathy is by a cardiac catheterization.
