I have mitral valve prolapse plus a heart murmur, is this normal?
Mitral valve prolapse is an abnormality of this heart valve which can be associated with a heart murmur, chest pain or heart arrhythmia. The valve is abnormal and ‘flops’ into the atrium. It may or may not be associated with a murmur which is the valve leaking. Worst case is that it is a syndrome associated with arrhythmias and even strokes. It should be followed by a cardiologist.
